Artist Statement
I’ll be honest: I’ve always thought artist statements were a bit of puffery—overly self-important and sometimes more about sounding profound than actually saying something. Still, I recognize their place, so here’s my attempt at sincerity without the fluff.
I work primarily in ceramics, creating sculptural forms that draw from myth, folklore, and imagined worlds. My pieces often feel like relics from a place that never existed—objects with a history you can’t quite place but instinctively feel. I’m fascinated by the way clay holds memory, how it can be coaxed into organic, expressive shapes and still surprise me in the fire.
Myth is a language I keep returning to—not for literal storytelling, but as a way to tap into something older, something that speaks in symbols and archetypes. I’m less interested in explaining meaning than in inviting a sense of wonder or recognition, however fleeting.
If you find something here that resonates, that’s enough. If not, I hope the work can still exist as its own kind of mystery.
